Secure Site and Secure Site Pro Support

VeriSign offers Secure Site and Secure Site Pro Services with SSL Certificates. Both products offer powerful SSL encryption, business identity and authentication, and VeriSign’s Secured Seal. Secure Site Pro includes Server Gated Cryptography (SGC) to enable the strongest encryption available for the most Web site visitors.

For the enrolment and installation process you will need to access your Web server. The process usually takes 2 days to complete.

Step by Step Overview

Step 1: Generate a CSR >>

The CSR is a string of text generated by your server software. You provide this string of text to VeriSign during the enrolment process. To generate a CSR, you will need to know what kind of server software is running on your Web server to choose the correct instructions.

Step 2: Enrolment >>

To enrol for a Secure Site or Secure Site Pro Certificate, you will need your CSR with the exact domain name of the site you intend to secure.

VeriSign must verify your enrolment information before you receive your installation instructions. This step generally takes 2 business days. The time may be shorter or longer depending on your response to additional requests for information. You must respond to verification requests within 30 days to continue the enrolment process.

Step 3: Installation Instructions >>

Once your information has been validated, VeriSign will email installation instructions containing a text file to install on your server. Choose the appropriate installation instructions for your server software and for your product. If are installing Secure Site Pro with SGC, you will need to install an Intermediate CA certificate.

Step 4: Backup Certificate >>

Once your SSL Certificate is installed, you will not need to make any updates until renewal in one to two years. VeriSign recommends that you backup your certificate to avoid a replacement fee.
