CANNES, France - 3GSM Congress 2005 – February 14, 2005
-VeriSign, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRSN), the leading provider of intelligent
infrastructure services for the Internet and telecommunications networks,
today demonstrated the latest innovations for mobile operators in Europe
at the 3GSM World Congress. These services - spanning mobile to VoIP
roaming, mobile security and digital content - allow operators to provide
new revenue opportunities by responding to consumer and enterprise demand
for increased functionality and cost effective solutions within the
wireless device environment.

of interoperability, security, mediation, clearing and payment so they

intelligent infrastructure and security services are the foundation
needed for rapid delivery of content, secure mobile eCommerce and enhanced
roaming capabilities.”
VeriSign is announcing the following activities which
will take place at 3GSM World Congress:
- Announcing the introduction
of the VeriSign and Gemplus SIM Authentication Solution. This provides
wireless carriers with a scalable strong authentication solution that
gives their customers the ability to conduct remote transactions with
confidence and ease. The solution supports several types of authentication
options including One Time Password (OTP) and Digital Certificates.
VeriSign and Gemplus will demonstrate SIM-Based Authentication joined
with IBM Tivoli Federated Identity software solutions to provide carriers
and enterprises with a single authentication platform to deliver strong
Single Sign On that enables secure commerce, communication and content
distribution.
- VeriSign and BridgePort
Networks, IBM, PCTEL and IMC will participate in MobileVoIP LIVE!
Visitors to 3GSM World Congress 2005 will be able to experience seamless
roaming of calls using a single phone with a GSM-based number over both
GSM and WiFi broadband networks. Attendees who visit to the participating
MobileIGNITE member stands can test MobileVoIP Live! using Windows
Mobile Phone Edition smart phone with GSM/WiFi phone with a unified
cellular and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) based VoIP interface
to make and receive phone calls.

VeriSign is also presenting its comprehensive and
innovative solutions for mobile carriers at stand D49, Hall 2 in the
Palais des Festivals. Highlights include:
- Mobile Content Services – VeriSign is now offering European
operators the ability to immediately bring compelling, revenue generating
services to their subscribers through its Jamba! and Jamster! subsidiaries.
VeriSign Mobile Content Services brings a broad, up to the minute content
catalog together with advanced user-experience management, progressive
mobile content promotion and carrier billing integration. With a combined
catalog of more than 200,000 content items available today and the ability
to deliver via SMS, MMS, WAP or Web channels, VeriSign Mobile Content
Services delivers the content wireless subscribers want now. VeriSign
has already helped large numbers of premier wireless operators take
advantage of the opportunity to increase revenues through wireless data
and entertainment products for prepaid and postpaid customers.
- Inter-Carrier Multimedia Messaging Services – an inter-carrier
interoperability service allowing operators to enable subscribers to
send rich media via messaging on mobile devices. Wireless subscribers
are increasingly viewing messaging as a convenient and cost-effective
method of communicating on the go. Solving interoperability issues is
a major step towards propelling the sending and receiving of photos,
audio and video clips. VeriSign’s Inter-Carrier Multimedia Messaging
Services offers a seamless solution, making multimedia messaging interoperability
possible between GSM and CDMA networks and providing full connectivity
and routing between operators using similar or disparate multimedia
messaging centers, or messaging servers.
- Intelligent Messaging Services – Helps enable businesses to
mobilize their communication, collaboration, workflow and entertainment
applications on virtually any popular mobile device. VeriSign’s Intelligent
Messaging Network connects to more than 500 mobile and paging networks
worldwide, and supports 98% of today’s messaging devices. As a result,
VeriSign can handle diverse wireless technology, carrier integration,
and mobile device complexities. These services combine innovative features
and ease-of-use to help deliver a return on investment for carriers
and enterprises of all sizes.
- Inter-carrier Messaging (ICM) Service – VeriSign is already
a leader in providing SMS (Short Message Service) interoperability between
operators, offered in cooperation with Ztango. The service provides
two-way messaging across virtually all popular mobile devices that support
messaging capability, and offers various service options, including
short codes and global access numbers. Two-way messaging helps
enable high-value services, including actionable alerts and purchase
transactions, to be deployed on mobile devices around the world. VeriSign
delivers one billion messages per month to subscriber phones on behalf
of content providers, between carrier networks or from mobile subscribers.
- Legal Interception Services – Offers CSPs a full service to
assist with the legal, technical, and operational requirements for legal
intercept as set by the European standards and government requirements.
VeriSign’s NetDiscovery services include provisioning, access and delivery
of intercepted information from operators to law enforcement agencies.
NetDiscovery services support fixed line, mobile, and next-generation
services such as VoIP, Push-To-Talk, and GPRS/EDGE.
- IP-Connect Services – VeriSign’s IP-Connect suite of services
helps carriers enable VoIP calls and ensure enhanced feature portability
across and within wireline, wireless and cable networks. VeriSign’s
IP-Connect suite of services allows CSPs to extend VoIP services across
access methods to enterprise customers. VeriSign’s directory services,
secure network infrastructure, and telecommunication signaling expertise
enable VoIP networks to interconnect and roam with wireless networks.
Jamba! and Jamster! - wholly-owned subsidiaries of
